10 Reasons why you Should Travel

If you stumbled on this blog entry, you are most likely considering a trip abroad or at least it just randomly crossed your mind before. Maybe you are not sure if you can and should really do it and what are the benefits if you leave house and home behind, especially when thinking about taking some time off for a longer period of time.

Well, lucky you, because here are 10 reasons why you should go traveling and I promise you will come back a changed person (for better or worse).

1.You get to see the most beautiful places

This is obviously the most important and convincing reason. From the Hollywood sign in LA to the famous Ayers Rock in Australia to swimming with pigs in the Bahamas. The decision is totally up to you. Go wherever you want to go, at the end you will only regret the chances you didn’t take.

2. Travellers are the best people

I’m serious. Nobody is that spontaneous, embarrassing or random as we are. Pretty sure most people you meet you will never see again but that’s okay. But every now and then you make the best friends while traveling because you have more in common than all your friends at home combined.

It is a lot easier to make friends as well because you already have one thing to talk about. Tell them everything you experienced while traveling, that is going to be a long conversation. It’s also nice to have friends all over the world, and some of them you might see again on your next adventures.

3. Getting to know different cultures

Take a trip to the unknown and get to know different cultures, it will change the way you see the world. Try out new things, take a step out of your comfort zone. Life is a constant challenge and if you don’t challenge yourself who is gonna do it?

4.  No rules

No rules, no regulations, no responsibilities. That’s the life you wanna be living. Be spontaneous! There you go, planning all your destinations and travel routes, believe me there is no way you are going to stay true to your travel plans. You might be deciding that you don’t like a specific destination or meet new people and decide to travel with them. You never know, but leave space for changes. This is true freedom and you will not know how it feels like before you finish packing up your backpack and get on the next plane. What are you waiting for?

5. Learn a lot about yourself

As I said you will come back a changed person. More independent, more self-confident, stronger than ever before. It’s a good feeling to know that you can go to a new country without speaking the language, not knowing a single soul and having no clue about what to do with your life and you still manage to make your way through. It is a lot easier than it sounds. Once you go you might never come back.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

6. P A R T Y

If you like to party you are definitely not at the wrong address when going traveling. Especially when choosing a famous backpacker destination like Australia or Thailand. If you are planning to stay in a hostel you will always find some people and always find some party going on somewhere.

You haven’t partied if you haven’t gotten drunk with a bunch of broke backpackers. Or just do it for the Snapchat story.

But don’t worry, if you’re not into parties there are easy ways to avoid them.

7. Learn a new language

This might not be your primary goal, but the best way to learn a new language is to go to a country were this language is spoken. Speak to locals, built relationships and get to know the world they live in. There is more to a language than just vocabulary.

8. You can actually save money

Probably not. But hey you can give it a try. This really depends on the location you are going to visit. Think about all the bills you are paying at home: rent, food and an infinite amount of other items. The cost of living is actually cheaper in some countries than it will be at home (also depends on where you live).

There are also always alternative ways of travelling if you really want the whole experience. Speaking of hitchhiking or couch surfing. Living in a world where it is possible to have business conferences online, nobody said you have to stop working and spend all you money on travelling.

There will be possibilities to work overseas or if your job is doable on a computer than why not work with sandy toes on the beach instead of a stinky office in a city which nobody ever heard off in the first place.

Penang, Malaysia

9. Do it for the Stories

Where do you see yourself in 40 years time from now? When you look back at you life do you wanna think about all those years working hard and saving up money for bad times? No? I didn’t think so. You want to be able to look back at all the adventures you experienced. So many stories to tell, so little time. Those stories that make you smile randomly, even years later and give you the feeling that you have been living life to the fullest.

Not telling you to go quit your job, but if you really want to you can find a time to go on an adventure. A month, a year, it really doesn’t matter.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

10. Best time ever

I don’t know where you are going and what your plans are but I can guarantee that you are going to have the time of your life. There is no way you are going to regret making this decision. Even if you feel like it would be a time off and not going to get you anywhere in life.

Travelling is going to teach so much that university and jobs will never be able to teach you and might give you an understanding of what is important in life. Just give it a try and realise what you’ve been missing out on all these previous years.

Reasons why you should go traveling: You will have an amazing time

Here are my reasons why you should travel! Do you have any reasons to add?
