If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona and looking for a social hostel, chances are you’ve come across Kabul Party Hostel Barcelona. It’s one of the most well-known hostels in the city, also known as one of the best party hostels… but how intense is it?
I stayed here recently (and even celebrated my birthday there 🎉), so here’s my honest review, especially if you’re a solo traveller who still wants to sleep at night.

📍 Location of Kabul Party Hostel Barcelona
One of the best things about Kabul Party Hostel in Barcelona is the location.
The hostel is located right on Plaça Reial, which is basically in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. You’re:
- Maybe a 4 minute walk away from the metro station
- Around 10–15 minutes walk to the harbour
- About 20–25 minutes walk to the beach
- Surrounded by restaurants, bars, and nightlife
It’s one of those locations where you can walk pretty much everywhere, and if you don’t feel like it, the metro connections nearby are super convenient, so it’s easy to get to anywhere in the city.

🛏️ Rooms, Beds & Cleanliness
For a party hostel, I was actually surprised by how clean everything was.
The dorms are spacious and well organised, and all the beds come with privacy curtains, individual lights, and charging points. Lockers are secured with your key card, which is always a plus. And you don’t need to worry if you forgot to bring a lock.
Bathrooms are located in the hallway (a big plus as well, because there is nothing I hate more than a bathroom attached to the room). There are quite a lot of toilets and showers on each floor, I never had to wait.
Overall, it felt much cleaner and more modern than what you’d expect from a typical party hostel.

🎉 Is It Actually a Party Hostel?
Short answer: yes, but you can definitely also stay here if you don’t want to party.
Yes, they do organise social activities and every night around 11pm they take people out to clubs. But what I actually liked is that this separates the party crowd from everyone else. Before taking people out to the bars, they do always hostel different activities, such as Salsa dancing, or a beer pong tourament or something similar.
So if you want to go out, it’s super easy to meet people and join. But if you don’t, you can just stay in and sleep.
I stayed on the fourth floor and it was honestly quiet at night, which I did not expect at all. I got really good nights of sleep here.
Also worth mentioning: the crowd is more mixed than you’d think. It’s not just 18 to 22 year olds. There were plenty of people in their late twenties and thirties, and even some older travellers.
I actually turned 30 during my stay and thought I’d feel old… but it wasn’t as bad as I expected.
🤝 Social Vibe & Activities
The hostel is quite big (it has around five floors), which can sometimes make it harder to meet people. So it definiltey does not have a super cosy vibe where you are going to know everyone but instead, you’ll need to join activities or get lucky and meet nice people in your dorm.
How you can meet people at Kabul Party Hostel:
- Daily activities
- Group nights out
- A bar/common area where people naturally hang out
- A rooftop terrace
So even though it’s a larger hostel, it still feels social if you make a bit of effort.
💸 Price & Value
I paid around €35 per night, which is on the higher end for a hostel. But for Barcelona, that’s actually pretty reasonable, especially considering:
- The central location
- Clean facilities
- Social atmosphere
- Included activities
Barcelona is expensive! It has to be said that I travelled in March so prices where generally still a bit cheaper than in the summer season.

🤔 Final Verdict: Should You Stay at Kabul Hostel?
I’d recommend Kabul Party Hostel if:
- You’re travelling solo and want to meet people
- You like the option to party but don’t want chaos every night
- You want a central location
- You still care about cleanliness and sleep
I wouldn’t recommend it if:
- You’re expecting a wild, non-stop party hostel like in Southeast Asia. But to be honest, I don’t know if you would be able to find a hostel like that in Europe.
- You want a super small, intimate hostel
💭 My Honest Opinion
I did have a good time here, even though I mainly stayed here because hotels in Barcelona are too expensive. But I did feel like there were a lot of activities I could have joined, the beds were comfy and it was super clean. I would definiltey stay here again, and the location was perfect as well!
