Located right in the city centre, it’s within walking distance of major attractions, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. Dorms at Jacobs Inn
The dorms are pod-style, meaning you have your own little pod, that you can close with a curtain. This way, you have a lot of privacy, and it feels like a private room. All beds have their own lights, and USB plugs.
Within the room, everyone has their own locker in the dorm, with a number code you can pick yourself. There is one toilet and one shower in the dorm (two separate rooms).
You can choose between 12-Bed, 10-Bed, 8-Bed, 6-Bed and 4-Bed dorms. And there are private rooms as well.
And there is also a special dorm for people above 40 and people below 26, as well as female dorms.
Common areas
The main common area is the bar on the right-hand side when you come in. This is also where breakfast is served if you want to eat breakfast at the hostel. You can also sit here if you are not ordering any food or drinks from the bar.
Other than that, there are a few seats next to the reception where you can sit at. However, I thought for the size of the hostel there weren’t that many common areas, as sometimes in the evenings everything was full and there was no place to sit. So I ended up going into my room already, even though I would have probably hung out in the common are a bit longer.
There is also a small rooftop, if you take the stairs all the way to the top floor.
The hostel offers a pub crawl and a walking tour every day. You can purchase tickets for the pub crawl at the reception.
Location of Jacobs Inn in Dublin
Jacobs Inn is located right in the city centre of Dublin, and all major attractions are within walking distance. The bus stop to take you to and from the airport is just a 5-minute walk away. Furthermore, you can find multiple restaurants, pubs, and supermarkets such as Lidl or Tesco, just a few minutes away.
It is also just a 3-minute walk away from Connolly station, from where you can travel from Dublin to the beautiful village of Howth in just 24 minutes.
Price
The cheapest room is the 12 bed mixed dorm, which starts at €39.80 if you go during the week. The 10-bed dorm starts at €44.17, etc. Private rooms start at €152.56.
Unfortunately, these prices are pretty common in Dublin, due to very expensive housing prices and not enough space. You can expect to pay similar prices, if not more, at other hostels in Dublin.
Prices are typically a lot more expensive during the weekend. Make sure to book your stay at Jacobs Inn early in advance, as accommodation in Dublin can book out and get more expensive the longer you wait.
Overall Summary of Jacobs Inn in Dublin
Overall, it is a great hostel, and I would definitely stay here again if I go back to Dublin. The pod-style dorms give you a lot of privacy. It is a huge hostel, like most hostels in Dublin, which of course doesn’t make it the most social hostel, unfortunately. But there are so many other ways to meet people when travelling, e.g. by joining tours, or pub crawls.
For the accommodation you can expect in Dublin, this would probably be one of the best hostels to stay in!
