10 Best Things to do in Sydney, Australia

Sydney is easily one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you have ever been to Sydney before, then you know why. Sydney has a lot to offer: beautiful beaches, loads of sightseeing and a dashing nightlife. When starting your Australia adventure, you might start off your trip in Sydney! To give you the best out of what Sydney has to offer, here are some of the 10 best things to do in Sydney, Australia.

Now if you are short on time then you might not be able to make all of these fit into your schedule but there is literally so much to do in Sydney, so I’d recommend planning some more time.

1. Visit the Opera House

The Opera house is probably one of the most unique buildings out there and absolutely worth a visit. It’s probably what most people will think of firstly when thinking about Sydney.

2. Go surfing at Bondi Beach

If you have time to go to the beach, then definitely check out Bondi Beach. It’s usually pretty crowded, but it is one of Australia’s most famous beaches for a reason.

3. Things to do in Sydney: Take a ferry to Manly 

And then obviously also spend some time in Manly while you are there. Manly is a suburb in Northern Sydney and it is absolutely beautiful. Like all throughout Sydney (and Australia) you can find some of the most beautiful beaches in Manly.

4. Walk across or climb the Harbour Bridge

If you think about Sydney, you probably think of two things straight away: The Opera House and the world-famous harbour bridge. There are even tours that will allow you to climb up the harbour bridge for incredible views of Sydney.

5. Visit Taronga Zoo

If you want to get to Taronga Zoo, you can take a ferry, which will take you around 12 minutes from Circular Quay. So getting to the Zoo is already a unique experience itself. Other than seeing a lot of cute animals, you can also get the greatest of views of Sydney itself by taking up the Cable car within the zoo.

6. Take a day trip to the Blue Mountains

While not really located in Sydney itself, you can not plan a trip to this city without also visiting the Blue Mountains. It is one of the best things to do from Sydney. You can easily take a train from Sydney to the Blue Mountains. Make sure to visit the Three Sister Sandstone rock formations, which is one of the most visited attractions.

7. Walk around Darling Harbour

Darling Harbour is an incredible area with lots of bars, restaurants and tourist attractions such as the sea life Sydney or Madame Tussauds. They used to even have fireworks there every Saturday night which was great to look at. Not sure, however, if that is still the case.

8. Enjoy the Botanic Garden

The botanic garden isn’t far from the city centre and from there you can not only enjoy the lovely green area but also enjoy some stunning views of the Opera House and the Harbour bridge.

9.Bondi to Coogee Beach Walk

The Bondi to Coogee Walk (Or Coogee to Bondi) is a 6km coastal walk along some of the most beautiful beaches. Depending on how often you are planning on stopping, you can plan about two or three hours or even a whole day to complete the walk. I highly recommend it!

10. Enjoy a fun night out

Sydney has some amazing nightlife and while it is not the cheapest place to go out, you should definitely enjoy a fun night out in one of Sydney’s many clubs at least once.
