After having lived in Utrecht now for a few years, I have had time to try out some restaurants in the city. Since there are so many amazing places to eat at, I’ve compiled a list of 7 of my favourite restaurants in Utrecht. And of course, I am also hoping to update this list in the future, whenever I discover a new place that I like.
Spending some more time in Utrecht? Then check out these 21 amazing day trips from Utrecht!
1. Daebak Korean BBQ
Oudegracht 214, 3511 NS Utrecht
Since I spent a couple of months in Korea, I do really appreciate a nice Korean BBQ restaurant. And Daebak Korean BBQ is great! It just recently opened, and is located right next to the Oudegracht. Here you will find everything that you would expect from a Korean BBQ: Meet, Kimchi, Soju, and many other amazing side dishes and much more.
It is all you can eat (€34.50 or €36.50 per person, depending on the day of the week), and you can just order all your dishes from a tablet on your table. This would probably be my favourite restaurant in Utrecht!

2. Spice Monkey
Two locations: Biltstraat 1 or Oosterkade 30
Here you can find Asian street food, mostly Indonesian food, as well as a huge selection of cocktails. They also have their own signature cocktails, which are very nice.
The interior of the restaurants is very pretty. There are not that many seats available, however, so make sure to reserve beforehand, but that is generally the case for every restaurant in Utrecht.

3. Ruby Rose
Korte Jansstraat 23, 3512 GM Utrecht
If you are looking for a more fancy place to go to for dinner in Utrecht, then Ruby Rose is the place to go to. The interior design of this place is beautiful and other than a huge selection of wines, you can find multiple dishes to share, mostly Italian, French and Spanish cuisine.

4. ICI Ramen Tepan
Zadelstraat 10
Like the name says, here you can find tepan and ramen. For tepan, you can choose between 5 different types of sauces and different types of meats, and it is served on a hot plate with the sauce being poured onto your plate right at the table.
Other than that you can choose between a bunch of delicious starters or side dishes such as spring rolls, Gyoza, Edamame, etc.
You can check out their menu here.

5. Lucy Lou -Tacos and Tequila
Vredenburg 30, 3511 BC Utrecht
This restaurant is located quite close to the central station, and I also went here without a reservation, which isn’t always possible in Utrecht. Lucy Lou sells Mexican food and they also have a good selection of cocktails.

6. Sonmat
Biltstraat 5, 3572 AA Utrecht
Maybe this isn’t a place for going out for dinner, but this list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Sonmat, as this is my favourite place in Utrecht to get lunch. This Korean Chicken place is pretty popular, which is why they have recently moved from a small takeaway place to a new location, where you can now actually sit in and enjoy your Korean chicken. However, most people just get takeaway here.
If you go during lunchtime, I’d recommend the lunch box, which includes Korean chicken, rice and a side such as Kimchi, all for €10.

7. Street Food Club
Janskerkhof 9, 3512 BK Utrecht
Street Food Club is probably the most popular restaurant in Utrecht, located right at Janskerkhof! The inside of the restaurant is very impressive, and even though there are many rooms and tables and lots of space, it is in fact booked out most of the time.
If you are coming during lunch time you can find pokebowls or Bao Bao’s or whatever is on the menu around that time. While Street Food Club usually has a mixture of different cuisines, the menu changes quite frequently. Expect to find Korean fried chicken and empanadas on the same menu. During dinner time, the idea is, similar to a lot of places in Utrecht, to order multiple smaller dishes and share.

And here were some of my favourite restaurants in Utrecht. Have you been to any of these places before? Which one is your favourite?
Have a lovely day!
