After having lived in Utrecht now for a few years, I have had time to try out some restaurants in the city. Since there are so many amazing places to eat at, I’ve compiled a list of 17 of my favourite restaurants in Utrecht. And of course, I am also hoping to update this list in the future, whenever I discover a new place that I like.
Spending some more time in Utrecht? Then check out these 25 incredible day trips from Utrecht!
1. Daebak Korean BBQ
Oudegracht 214, 3511 NS Utrecht
Since I spent a couple of months in Korea, I do really appreciate a nice Korean BBQ restaurant. And Daebak Korean BBQ is great! It just recently opened, and is located right next to the Oudegracht. Here you will find everything that you would expect from a Korean BBQ: Meet, Kimchi, Soju, and many other delicious side dishes and much more.
It is all you can eat (€36.50 or €39.50 per person for dinner, depending on the day of the week), and you can just order all your dishes from a tablet on your table. This would probably be my favourite restaurant in Utrecht! (I have been 7 times now)

2. Ruby Rose
Korte Jansstraat 23, 3512 GM Utrecht
If you are looking for a more fancy place to go to for dinner in Utrecht, then Ruby Rose is the place to go to. The interior design of this place is beautiful and other than a huge selection of wines, you can find multiple dishes to share, mostly Italian, French and Spanish cuisine.

3. ICI Ramen Tepan
Zadelstraat 10
Like the name says, here you can find tepan and ramen. For tepan, you can choose between 5 different types of sauces and different types of meats, and it is served on a hot plate with the sauce being poured onto your plate right at the table.
Other than that you can decide between a bunch of delicious starters or side dishes such as spring rolls, Gyoza, Edamame, etc.
You can check out their menu here.

But of course there aren’t just restaurants in Utrecht, here are some of the best things to do in Utrecht!
4. Sojubar Fried Chicken and Beer
Vinkenburgstraat 20, 3512 AB Utrecht
Sojubar is a popular chain and there are many Sojubars around the Netherlands. The Utrecht one just opened recently and is located right at Neude, in the city centre of Utrecht.
The main thing you can find here is Korean fried chicken, but also Bibimbap, and of course, a lot of different flavours of Soju to drink. It’s a popular place, so make sure to reserve a bit in advance, as it is usually full.

5. Street Food Club
Janskerkhof 9, 3512 BK Utrecht
Street Food Club is one of the most popular restaurants in Utrecht, located right at Janskerkhof! The inside of the restaurant is very impressive, and even though there are many rooms and tables and lots of space, it is in fact booked out most of the time.
If you are coming during lunchtime, you can find poke bowls or Bao Bao’s or whatever is on the menu around that time. While Street Food Club typically has a mixture of different cuisines, the menu changes quite frequently. Expect to find Korean fried chicken and empanadas on the same menu. During dinner time, the idea is, similar to a lot of places in Utrecht, to order multiple smaller dishes and share.

6. De Zwarte Vosch
Oudegracht 48, 3511 AR Utrecht
Located right at the Oudegracht, this tapas restaurant has some of the best Spanish foods, from patatas bravas to piementos de padron. But what makes this place quite unique, is other than the regular tapas on the menu, they wait staff is also walking around with some more tapas about every 20 minutes.
They come on sticks with different colours, and each colour indicated the price of the tapas. So you can choose yourself which ones you want and which ones you want to pass on.

7. Kimmade Vietnamese Street Food
Mariastraat 2, 3511 LP Utrecht
If you are looking for an affordable, delicious place in the city centre, then Kimmade might be one of the best places to eat at in Utrecht! Here you can find Vietnamese street food!
There are only a couple of tables, and you can’t reserve beforehand, so it could be that you have to queue a little bit in front of the entrance. But the wait is worth it for sure!

8. Carmel Market
Janskerkhof 10, 3512 BL Utrecht
This restaurant is located right next to the street food club, and while it might not be too spectacular from the outside, the inside of Carmel Market is very impressive.
Carmel Market is a popular place right in the city centre of Utrecht, and it comes with a nice selection of wines, and shared dishes, that we really enjoyed. There were also enough vegetarian options
Check out the menu here.

9. Comptoir Lebanais
Catherijne Esplanade 49, 3511 WK Utrecht
This restaurant is located in the mall, so probably not a place you’d think of going for dinner to. However, the food at this Lebanese restaurant is great, and the prices are not too expensive, and you don’t need to reserve. Great place, if you spontaneously decide to get some dinner while shopping.

10. Sanju Ramen
Voorstraat 29, 3512AJ Utrecht
Sanju is a Ramen restaurant with two locations in Utrecht. Here you can enjoy Ramen, Donburi dishes and some side dishes. The service is quick and efficient, and the Ramen was delicious. Sanju Ramen does not take reservations, as it’s based on first-come-first-serve, so make sure to arrive early.

11. Mo-jo
Potterstraat 16-20, 3512 TB Utrecht
Mo-jo is a chain that you can find in six different cities in the Netherlands, one of them being in Utrecht. It’s an all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurant. Food can be ordered via your smartphone, and the food arrives really quickly and is delicious.
They also have some other side dishes such as fried chicken, edamame beans, so even if you are not a fan of sushi you can find something you like. For example, I don’t eat any seafood and still found a lot of food I could eat.

12. Lucy Lou -Tacos and Tequila
Vredenburg 30, 3511 BC Utrecht
This restaurant is located quite close to the central station, and I also went here without a reservation, which isn’t always possible in Utrecht. Lucy Lou sells Mexican food, and they also have a good selection of cocktails.

13. Surya
Janskerkhof 23, 3512 BN Utrecht
Another great restaurant in Utrecht, that I just discovered recently, is Surya. It is located right at Janskerkhof and serves Indian and Nepalese cuisine.
The interior is beautiful, the staff is super friendly and the food was delicious. My friend didn’t manage to finish all of her food, and they offered to pack it for her to eat at home. I loved this restaurant and will definitely come back here.

14. Vegitalian
Two locations in Utrecht: Schoutenstraat 17 or Nachtegaalstraat 29B
Vegitalian is a popular Italian restaurant with two locations in Utrecht, and probably one of the best restaurants in Utrecht. As the name suggests, all their food is vegetarian. They mainly have Pasta and Pizza, but also some side dishes such as roasted cauliflower (which was very nice).

15. Paloma
Mariaplaats 11, 3511 LK Utrecht
Paloma is a new Spanish restaurant, located at Mariaplaats in Utrecht, right next to Olround Bowling. It’s a huge restaurant, which you wouldn’t expect from the outside. And you can get lots of Spanish classics such as piementos de padron or croquetas.
This place is very popular, so make sure to reserve in advance. But from my experience, if you just put yourself on the waiting list, you will most likely get a spot, as it is so big that there will probably be some people who cancel. I really liked this restaurant and will definitely come back.

16. Kartoffel
Oudegracht aan de Werf 145 Aan de Werf, 3511 AL Utrecht
Kartoffel is a German restaurant right by the canals, which makes it a really lovely place to sit outside. You can find a selection of German beers and German classics such as halbes Hähnchen, Schnitzel, Flammkuchen, or Bratkartoffel.
As most restaurants in Utrecht are tapas style these days, Kartoffel is a restaurant where you can actually order a main dish, and it’s supposed to be for just one person.
So that also makes the whole visit a little cheaper, and is a great place if you are tired of sharing food for a day. As a German, I would say this place is approved, however, there are not a lot of vegetarian options.

17. Takumi
Vredenburg 21, 3511 BB Utrecht
Takumi is my go-to ramen restaurant in Utrecht. It is a chain, and you can find it in so many cities inside and outside of the Netherlands. Their ramen is great, and they have a big selection of ramen options and also rice dishes and sides.
Takumi is walk-in only, so no need to reserve. You might need to wait a bit, but usually it goes fairly quickly!
